City Guide We are excited that our guests will have a chance to visit such a fun and culturally diverse city as Ann Arbor. Founded in 1824 and home to the University of Michigan, the city is known throughout the world for its tolerance, beauty, world class academics, great restaurants and of course football. As you walk though the State Street area you will discover many beautiful buildings. Among those building is our reception hall, the Michigan Union. The First Congressional Church, where our ceremony will be held, is also a historic landmark known for its slate roof and beautiful windows. The church was built in the 1860’s in part by the efforts of one of its founding members Joseph Angel, a former University of Michigan President. Also named for Mr. Angel is Angel Hall – a large building located kitty-corner to the church. Next door to the impressive Angel Hall is one of the Midwest’s most renowned art museums – The University of Michigan Museum of Art - which we hope you will have a chance to visit. South of the museum is the Law Quad whose architecture has few rivals. All of these attractions can be seen in only two city blocks! Time permitting we have provided you with some helpful links to the rest of Ann Arbor. It likely has something for everyone:
